Dogsledding Poetry

WE ARE SLED DOGS

We are the sun

Light announces the day

Warm fur, warm hearts

We run down the trail

We are sled dogs

We are the sky

Vast expanses of color

Boundless, unfettered

We fly down the trail

We are sled dogs

We are the wind

A breeze or a tempest

Blowing so freely

No restraint or reserve

We charge down the trail

We are sled dogs

We are the sea

An endless continuum

We follow our instincts

And ancestors’ ways

We lead down the trail

We are sled dogs

We are the stars

Light brightens the night

Sirius winks

As we follow the trail

We are sled dogs

We are the moon

Its mystical pull

Enchants and mystifies

We sing with our howls

We dance down the trail

We are sled dogs
